These functional and decorative storage baskets were woven by hand in Zambia’s Western Province from the roots of indigenous makenge plants. When properly harvested the remaining roots regenerate quickly, making makenge a beautiful and ecologically sustainable material you can feel good about.
This baskets function as unique and attractive storage solutions.
Because these baskets are made by hand, each piece has its own character and is truly one of kind.

Kaleya sources makenge baskets from Mumwa Crafts Association. Mumwa Crafts Association is a grassroots organization that was founded in 1994. Based in Mongu, in Zambia's Western Province, the organization aims to financially empower its members and preserve cultural traditions such as basket weaving.

All pieces, unless otherwise requested, are shipped directly from the US. We currently ship domestically and internationally via U.S.P.S. First Class. All orders $100 & above ship free. A flat rate shipping fee of $7.95 applies to all orders under $100.

Returns
Returns are accepted on all purchases if initiated within 10 days of delivery.
To initiate a return or exchange, please complete the following steps:
1. Email hello@shopkaleya.com with your order number and description of items you wish to return or exchange.
2. Send your item(s) back. Unless items are somehow defective, Kaleya will not cover return shipping costs.
3. When returned items are received Kaleya will initiate a full refund via original method of payment within 24 hours.
